Fiber to the Curb (FTTC)

Fiber to the Curb refers to a deployment of a broadband telecommunications system based on fiber-optic cables laid from a central office to the curbs near homes or businesses. Essentially, laying such a network eliminates the need for traditional telephone lines or "plain old telephone service" (POTS).

Coaxial cable, twisted pair (copper wire), or another method is then used to carry the signals the distance between the curb and home or business. This is opposite of Fiber to the Home or Premises which lays fiber-optic cable to the building.
